INCiPiT is pleased to present the “Gold for Kids” initiative, promoted by the Umberto Veronesi Foundation in collaboration with AIEOP – Italian Association of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, an INCiPiT Consortium member and a leading reference in pediatric clinical research. Below is the  project abstract , prepared by AIEOP.

“Gold for Kids” (AIEOP – Veronesi Foundation): Research, Care and Future in Pediatric Hemato-Oncology

The“Gold for Kids” project, promoted by the Umberto Veronesi Foundation in collaboration with AIEOP, represents one of the most important national models for supporting research and clinical practice in pediatric hemato-oncology.

Established with the aim of ensuring that children and adolescents affected by oncological diseases receive the best available therapeutic options, the project has made a concrete contribution to the development and implementation of innovative clinical protocols, while also supporting funding for translational research in major Italian centers.

Through a well-established network of collaboration among scientific institutions, foundations, and clinical centers, “Gold for Kids” has, over the years, made it possible to support advanced care pathways, improve clinical outcomes, and promote an integrated model combining care, research, and therapeutic innovation, with a direct impact on thousands of pediatric patients.

A distinctive feature of the project is the strong synergy between the scientific and clinical communities, particularly within the AIEOP network, which has enabled the rapid translation of research findings into concrete clinical practices, contributing to the continuous evolution of standards of care.

The 2026 Recognition: A Sign of the Value of Research

In 2026, the Umberto Veronesi Foundation further reaffirmed its commitment to supporting biomedical research by awarding the Fondazione Veronesi Award, recognizing young researchers engaged in oncological and translational fields, including projects with significant implications for pediatrics.

This recognition confirms the growing focus on innovative research and on the new generations of scientists working in the most advanced areas of medicine, including pediatric hemato-oncology, further strengthening the shared vision of a future in which research and care are increasingly integrated.

A Virtuous Model of Collaboration

“Gold for Kids” now reppesents a well-established model of collaboration between scientific and clinical institutions, capable of:

  • supporting research in pediatric cancers;
  • promoting access to innovative therapies;
  • improving patients’ quality of life and clinical outcomes;
  • fostering the dissemination of scientific culture in clinical practice.

An initiative that continues to demonstrate how the synergy between research and care can translate into real improvements in treatments for children and adolescents affected by hemato-oncological diseases.
